BREAST PROCEDURES Q&A

What is breast surgery?

Breast surgery refers to any procedure that involves altering the tissues of your breasts. There are a number of different options, each with a distinct set of pros and cons.

Breast augmentation

Breast augmentation (breast implants) is a great option if you’d like to achieve fuller, more voluminous breasts. This approach uses Allergan® implants to create larger, more rounded breasts.

Breast lift

If you’re happy with the size of your breasts but have experienced significant sagging over the years, a breast lift might be a good fit. This procedure raises the nipple without removing excess breast tissue. Breast lift with augmentation is also available.

Implant Exchange

Removes previous implants and replaces them with new ones.

Implant Explantation

Removes implants without replacing them

How do I know if breast surgery is right for me?

If you’d love to change something about the size, shape, or positioning of your breasts, surgery can help. There is no right or wrong motivation to pursue breast surgery. That said, it’s essential that you choose to move forward with a procedure that aligns with your personal wants and needs and does not conform to anyone else’s ideal.

Men can also benefit from breast surgery. Gynecomastia is a condition characterized by swollen breast tissue in males and can be treated through surgical reduction techniques.

What happens during breast surgery?

Breast procedures are done under general anesthesia, so you rest comfortably throughout the process.

Dr. Kasden begins by making incisions to access your breast tissue. He removes excess tissue and skin, lifts and reshapes the breasts, places an implant if needed, and closes the incisions.

Every effort is made to create incision lines that aren’t noticeable once healed. Some procedures require repositioning the nipples, which is done carefully to preserve as much nerve function as possible.
