Rhytidoplasty is the formal term for “face lift”. This operation restores a more youthful appearance by lifting, tightening, and removing excess skin. The weakened muscular support structures are also tightened, and excess fat is removed, repositioned, or sculpted to recreate a pleasing youthful appearance of the cheeks.
For the purpose of this discussion, a “mini”-face lift will be used interchangeably with cheek lift, and will be defined as surgical rejuvenation of the face bounded by the cheek bone superiorly and the lower jaw inferiorly, the ear laterally, and the “marionette lines”, medially. Other face lift components will be addressed in other sections.
