Bottomed out and Contracted

Procedure Details

42 year old white female from Lewisville, Tx who previously had breast augmentation years ago. She was unhappy with the appearance of the breasts because the implants had "dropped" and migrated laterally. As a result of the "bottoming out" the lower pole of the breast was full, the upper pole was hollow which created an unusual appearance (especially on quarter and lateral views). The patient also had palpable and visible ripples (especially on quarter and side views) with a distorted appearance and upward pointing nipples. The patient had overly exuberant scar tissue creating a hard breast with discomfort (capsular contracture).

Surgical Details

The patient underwent implant exchange with Inamed McGhan Natrelle Silicone Gel, Round, Smooth Implants moderate profile, 457 cc's (style 15-457) bilaterally.

The patient had a capsulectomy (removal of the thickened scar tissue), with reshaping and repair of the stretched muscle.  The pocket was adjusted to raise and centralize the implant to a more ideal position so that the breast tissue could redrape over it and creating a more asethetic breast.

The patient is 2 months post-op, the breasts are soft, and she is very pleased with her outcome.
