Neck Liposuction Performed on a Trophy Club Woman

Procedure Details

This 36-year-old white female because she was unhappy with her appearance. She specifically stated that She "hated" her neck because of her double chin, and the face lacks definition and distinct separation from the face. On exam, the patient had good occlusion (teeth contacted correctly). The trachea was in a good position, the skin had excellent elasticity, the lower jaw was appropriate, and the chin was not deficient. The platysma muscles in the neck were difficult to evaluate but did not seem to be lax. The main reason for the obtuse neckline was due to a thick fat pad in the neck. The patient's goals were to have better neck definition, clean up the jowls and jawline, have the face be distinct from the neck, and overall, just have a more graceful and sculpted neck. Based on the exam and the patient's desires to have a minimally invasive procedure, we decided on Ultrasound Assisted Liposuction (UAL) of the neck. 350 cc's of tumescent fluid was placed into the neck (fluid to minimize bruizing and bleeding) and 275 cc's of fat was removed. Technical note: When UAL or Lipotherme is used in conjunction with traditional Suction Assisted Liposuction (SAL) the volume of fat that is removed is less through the contouring is still excellent. It is my belief that the heat generated from UAL or Lipotherme shrinks the fat volume before it is suctioned. The patient had an uneventful recovery and is thrilled with her results.
